  Why, you might wonder, is this blog venturing into the area of Accounting this week? Well, I was standing in front of my freezer the other day, pondering which of my hoarded frozen items I should defrost for dinner, and started to wonder about just how old some of those items in the back corner were.  Which led to mental waffling about whether I should eat those as they were the oldest and most likely to have deteriorated, or just leave them there in case of future pandemic-related supermarket stockouts (when I’d be happy to have any food, no matter how deteriorated it was) and eat something that I knew had gone in recently. Ode to Sitting at the Bar

I love sitting at the bar.  So much so that the first line in my Bumble profile is, “prefer sitting at the bar to sitting at a table”.  This year has been rough on that front.  Even when New York was allowing indoor dining, it was table seating only.  I could only longingly eye my preferred bar perch from across a not very crowded room. So close, and yet so very very far away. I have a definite preference in bar stools.  My favorite ones 1) have a back, 2) swivel! 3) are padded, and 4) have crossbars at a convenient level on which to rest the dainty feet that are at the bottom of my short legs.  I’m not...

Wardrobe MVP of the Winter: the CBS (Cozy Black Sweater)

Pre-pandemic, my top three expenses in order were: 1) Rent, 2) The Realreal, and 3) Dental work.  These days I’m still paying my rent, and continue to have ongoing expensive dental annoyances, but my wardrobe outlay has severely diminished.  Instead of haunting Century 21 looking for cute garments that gallivant from work to play, I’m ransacking my closet looking for cozy items that migrate from desk to couch.  And there has emerged an unlikely, but clear winner in this new clothing equation. It’s a rather unprepossessing, slightly fuzzy, black wool crewneck Theory sweater. Normally it’s relegated to the back of my sweater drawer – too fuzzy and bulky for a chic look at work and not fuzzy and bulky enough...
